Believe & Achieve – Celebrating Families Learning Together
Who: Vista Heights School students and their families. Please bring at least one adult and remain with your family.
When: Thursday, April 23 6:30-7:30 pm
Where: Vista Heights School (see the map of the rooms you will visit when you enter)
What: Each teacher has prepared engaging thinking tasks that families will complete together. Families will visit as many rooms and complete as many tasks as they choose. The thinking tasks include such skills as solving puzzles, speed stacking, building and more. You will have the opportunity to practice such virtues as perseverance, creativity and courage. It is not a race. The prize is spending time together as a family and learning together.
Why: A great opportunity to build community in Vista Heights! We love learning!
Today we learned a lot about Fire Fighting!
We had so much fun, thank you parents for letting us go!
What are some ways Firemen fight fires?
How did we stay safe on our field trip?
We arrived before the Fire Fighters because they were on a call.
They let us stay for the whole morning!
What was the truck doing? ...backing into the driveway
Ask me what we saw at the Fire Station.
What are some ways we can stay safe?
What do we do if we find matches?
...a needle?

How does a Fire Alarm help us?

We broke into small groups to explore the Fire Truck.
If you don't see your child here you can check Mrs. Malik's blog!
What is in the tank? ...oxygen to breath in fires
How do the Fire Fighters wear it...
Ask me what equipment is in the truck...
Hoses, fans, axes...
Where do they keep the extra oxygen tanks?
We got to stand in the back of the Fire Truck!
What are the handles like... a faucet at a sink.

How do Fire Fighters put on their oxygen tanks?

We even got to sit in the driver's seat!
Ask me how it felt to sit up so high and hold the steering wheel.
What did we try to do with the hose?
Ask me how it felt.
Even Miss Anderson got a turn!
What did Ms Irevella get to do...
How did she feel when she was wearing the equipment...

What is the equipment called?
How do Fire Fighters get downstairs fast for a call?
How do they dry the hoses?
Thank you so much Fire Fighters Jamie, Brad and Rob!
We started writing Mm in our alphabet books.

Ask me to trace these letters.
What starts with M...

We read about the RCMP.
Ask me what they are...

How did they used to get around?

How do they get around now?

We had so much fun, thank you parents for letting us go!
