This week is Aboriginal Awareness week.
Please visit the link to find out more.

Today we read about seasons!
 What makes seasons?
...the Earth is tilted as it moves around the Sun.
When our part of the Earth is facing the Sun, what season is it?
When our part of the Earth is facing away from the Sun, what season is it?
On the left, our globe is tilted like normal ... on the right it is straight up and down.

Ask me why leaves change colour...
They are green when they are making food for the tree.
They change to red, yellow or orange when they stop making food.
Ask me why I see my breath on cold days.
...our bodies are warm and the air is cold.
How does your breath feel when you breathe on your hand?

We started our plasticine art.
Ask me how we did this.

We got to choose a book from the library to take home tomorrow.
We will have a message on the blog tomorrow explaining the books.
We were so excited to read and share our new books!

What season comes after Autumn (or Fall)... Winter!
Ask me "What is snow?"
...frozen water droplets in clouds!
Snow falls when the crystals get too big and heavy for the clouds.
Why do our windows get frosty?
...when water vapour touches cold glass it turns into ice!
Why do our cheeks turn red when we stay outside in the cold?
...our bodies are protecting ourselves from freezing!
More blood flows to our face to warm us up so our cheeks turn red.

What season comes after Winter... Spring!
What season are we in now?
How many more days until we change seasons... five!

See Mrs. Malik's Room 8 blog to see our relay races outside!

What makes thunderstorms?
Lightning is hot and makes the air move quickly which makes a loud sound... thunder!
 Why do bees like flowers?
...they collect the nectar and pollen from flowers!
What do they do with the nectar... they make honey.
What happens to the pollen?
...it is food for baby bees!

Thanks,
Miss Anderson
