Tuesday, June 9

Today we worked on our finger strength by using modelling clay.

Dhruv painted his butterfly to catch up from yesterday.
 What letter did Daniel make?
Ask me what sound it makes...
 We read a counting book.
Ask me about it.
I can count these turtles by two.
How many are left? I can count them by two.
 How many ducklings are there...
Plus one mother duck makes...
 We practiced counting by five!
How many groups of five are there?
Five and five makes...
How many groups of five are there now...
5 + 5 + 5 = ...
We added another group of five.
How many are there now?
Ask me to count the groups of five.
Now how many are in a group?
Mohammed showed us that two groups of ten makes...
 We read a book about...
 What do butterflies drink?
...nectar!
How does it drink the nectar...
..it uses its rolled up tongue like a straw.
What else do butterflies eat...
How can butterflies protect themselves from the rain?
How do they sleep?
Who are predators of the butterfly?
Butterflies protect themselves by...

We finished our butterflies!
Ask me what kind of lines we painted.

Butterflies have scales on their wings.
Scales are layered like shingles on a roof.
Ask me to show you what 'layered' looks like.
What does the mother butterfly do?
She tastes leaves with her feet to find the best spot to lay her eggs!
What is happening to this caterpillar?
 What happens inside the chrysalis...
metamorphosis!
How many syllables or beats does the word 'metamorphosis' have?
How many eggs are there altogether?
How many red eggs... how many green eggs?
Ask me to find the butterfly in each picture.

We went outside for gym today, the weather was beautiful!

Thanks,
Miss Anderson
